Commission has recently published the new research and innovation framework programme that will replace\u00a0the Horizon 2020\u00a0framework that is ending.\u00a0Horizon Europe\u00a0will incorporate policy missions to ensure the effectiveness of research and innovation funding by pursuing clearly defined targets.<\/p><p>Horizon Europe will begin in January 2021 and will end in December 2027.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-297c22d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"297c22d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">HORIZON EUROPE: OBJECTIVES<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-244b009 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"244b009\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The European Commission for these new 7-years programme has allocated a\u00a0budget of \u20ac 100 billion\u00a0with the aim that Europe fails to transform leadership in science into\u00a0leadership in innovation\u00a0and\u00a0entrepreneurship.<\/p><p>With\u00a0Horizon Europe,\u00a0the European Commission wants STRUCTURE<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d362bb8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d362bb8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The whole programme is structured in\u00a03 main pillars\u00a0and each of them has specific goals to achieve and different fields of action:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5be3f3f elementor-icon-list--layout-traditional elementor-list-item-link-full_width supporting the creation and diffusion of high-quality knowledge. The European Commission intends to allocate a total budget of \u20ac 25,8 billion for the calls that will be included within this pillar<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<svg aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"e-font-icon-svg e-fas-check\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M173.898 439.404l-166.4-166.4c-9.997-9.997-9.997-26.206 0-36.204l36.203-36.204c9.997-9.998 26.207-9.998 36.204 0L192 312.69 432.095 72.596c9.997-9.997 26.207-9.997 36.204 0l36.203 36.204c9.997 9.997 9.997 26.206 0 36.204l-294.4 294.401c-9.998 9.997-26.207 9.997-36.204-.001z\"><\/path><\/svg>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">Pillar 2 \u2013 Industrial Competitiveness: this second pillar is aimed at strengthening the impact of R&amp;I in supporting EU policies. Fields of action include health, digital innovation, natural resources, energy and mobility. For the period 2021-2027 the EU Commission will allocate \u20ac 13,5 billion<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d65a343 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d65a343\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">THE MAIN NOVELTIES OF HORIZON EUROPE WITH RESPECT TO HORIZON 2020<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e489f64 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e489f64\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>All the novelties contained in\u00a0Horizon Europe\u00a0are correlated to the mid-term results of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joconsulting.eu\/en\/horizon-2020-and-mid-term-evaluation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Horizon 2020<\/a>\u00a0programme and aim at improving the total impact of the action and reducing the difficulties faced during\u00a0Horizon 2020.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cae14ad elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"cae14ad\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">EUROPEAN INNOVATION COUNCIL\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-416347f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"416347f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The European Commission, in order to support innovation with breakthrough and disruptive nature, has founded the\u00a0<b>European Innovation Council\u00a0(EIC)<\/b> that will have the aim of helping innovators to create markets of the future, leverage private finance, scale up their companies etc.<\/p><p>To do so, the\u00a0EIC\u00a0will use 2 instruments:\u00a0Pathfinder\u00a0and\u00a0Accelerator.<\/p><p>The Pathfinder tool takes over the FET OPEN mechanism and\u00a0supports collaborative research projects\u00a0on emerging technologies, with an EU contribution of up to 4 million euros. The Pathfinder is aimed at researchers and innovators who want to demonstrate the commercial viability of their project.<\/p><p>The Accelerator tool, instead, takes up the SME Instrument and\u00a0supports the development of innovative interventions presented by entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs. In addition to the currently open calls for the SME Facility \u2013 which provide for the payment of grants of up to 2.5 million euros \u2013 from the 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of June 2019 the beneficiaries will be able to apply for mixed financing, combining contributions and equity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f73119c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f73119c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">R&amp;I MISSIONS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bb2cc75 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bb2cc75\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>For the period covered by\u00a0Horizon Europe, the EU Commission wants to better relate research and innovation to society and citizens\u2019 needs with a strong visibility and impact.<\/p><p>A mission is a portfolio of actions intended to\u00a0achieve a bold and inspirational as well as measurable goal within a set timeframe, with impact for science and technology, society and citizens that goes beyond individual actions.<\/p><p>Specific missions will be co-designed with Member States, stakeholders and citizens and programmed within the Global Challenges and Industrial Competitiveness pillar.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55fdb27 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"55fdb27\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46f7be9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"46f7be9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>With this respect, the Commission wants to tackle together global societal challenges, access to the world\u2019s best talents and enhance supply and demand of innovative solutions.
